Mohamed Soumit, MS., PLMHP (He/Him)
As a child of immigrants I understand the experiences of living in two worlds. I bring a compassionate, culturally nuanced approach to mental health care. I approach every client with genuine curiosity and deep respect for their unique narrative. I do this by honoring each client's unique background, and considering how their lived experiences, cultural identity, and relationships shape their current reality.. Through our work together, I help clients reframe their personal narratives to recognize the inherent value in every aspect of themselves. I deeply believe that within each person lies the capacity for their own healing.
By building a foundation of trust and authentic connection, I explore both present challenges and deeper patterns from the past. Whether one is seeking to process trauma, deepen self-discovery, or strengthen relationships, my role is to help unlock this potential by fostering self-awareness and developing practical skills. My goal is for clients to emerge from therapy with not only a richer understanding of themselves but also the resilience to maintain their sense of worth even when facing life's challenges.
My practice is committed to creating an affirming therapeutic space where individuals can be unapologetically themselves, especially people who have been historically marginalized. Specializing in trauma-informed care, I utilize advanced techniques including Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Attachment-Based Family Therapy, Narrative Exposure Therapy, EMDR, and Internal Family Systems Therapy. I believe in the transformative power of creativity, humor, and storytelling in the healing journey, always striving to challenge systemic oppression and support clients in discovering their most authentic selves. "Many stories matter. Stories have been used to dispossess and to malign. But stories can also be used to empower, and to humanize. Stories can break the dignity of a people. But stories can also repair that broken dignity." — Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
